Si-Qi PENG , born in 1995 in Taoyuan, Taiwan, holds an MFA in Fine Arts from Taipei National University of the Arts. PENG is inspired by the mounting and binding techniques for calligraphy and paintings as well as the craftsmanship of the East. Her works often take the forms of mixed media and space installations, involving familiar everyday objects hinting at the personal emotions and the ebb and flow of life. She aims to preserve both the light and the weight, the lost and the preserved, fiction and reality, drawing a path into the abyss of intimacy. PENG has gained recognition in the field of contemporary art, with accolades including selection for the 2023 Taipei Art Awards, the 2022 S-An Arts Award in the Plastic Arts category, and a category award in Spatial and Mixed Media at the 26th Nanying Awards.
Si-Qi PENG’s artistic practice stems from a spiritual extension of Eastern imagery. Through moments of natural decay—such as the falling leaves of paper mulberry and bleeding-heart trees—she captures the subtle messages of the cosmos, contemplating the cyclical balance of growth, decline, and regeneration. Real leaves are encased in paper fiber and porcelain slip, and during the firing process, both paper and foliage are consumed by heat, leaving behind intricate traces—textures and perforations as delicate as the marks of time—transformed into ceramic surfaces. Layered with glazes and metallic finishes, and with leaf stems patiently coated in natural lacquer, the works exude a sense of stillness and introspective spirituality. These pieces crystallize the fragility of both ceramics and life itself, serving as a medium for dialogue between the viewer and nature, material forms, and inner perception—echoing Eastern philosophies of harmony with nature and the interdependence of all beings.

"Hanging Dew" captures the gesture of a hand gently holding a fallen leaf, embodying nature’s cycle of loss and renewal. In its suspended moment, like a dewdrop about to fall, it reflects both the fragility and resilience of life, offering viewers a chance to sense the subtle resonance between nature and the inner self.
