Sara Khosrovaniis an autodidact Iranian artist, pharmacist and neuroscientist by education, whose work evokes feelings of nostalgia, migration and cultural synthesis. Having grown up immersed in the rich artistic traditions of Iran, she later spent many years in Europe and now resides in Taiwan—each place leaving its trace in her evolving artistic language. From childhood, art was ever present in her life and became a vital form of expression, shaping the way she sees and experiences the world.
Khosrovani’spaintings are poetic spaces where different histories and aesthetics converge. Her compositions are steeped in the elegance of Persian painting, like a Persian carpet echoing centuries-old traditions of ornamental pattern and narrative stillness. Yet within these surfaces, we also see the subtle influence of East Asian visual harmony and the bold chromatic language of Western contemporary art. She weaves these elements together not analytically, but intuitively—creating works that feel both grounded in tradition and completely of the present.
At the heart of her practice is a contemplation of belonging and transformation. Her figures, animals, and plants inhabit dreamlike settings that seem to hover between cultures, inviting viewers into a world shaped by movement—across borders, histories, and emotional landscapes. The elements in the paintings, be it a single shoe or a necklace often reflect experiences of the artist, without giving an obvious explanation, leaving much to the imagination of the observer. In this way, Khosrovani’swork is not only about where she has come from, but about how art can hold multiple places, times, and selves at once.

This vibrant painting showcases a woman lounging on a patterned chaise longue, surrounded by an almost fantastical jungle of vividly coloured foliage and cats in saturated hues—yellow, orange, and green. The woman’s composed posture and black dress contrast with the wildness of the environment, suggesting a theme of serenity amidst chaos or inner stillness in a lush, possibly symbolic, world.
The detailed florals, exaggerated colors, and stylized figures are reminiscent of Persian miniatures blended with modern decorative art, hinting at the artist’s cultural influences. The cats, each with their own distinct posture and colour, might symbolize companionship, mysticism, or emotional connection, or do they perhaps reflect a more transactional relationship.
"A Moment of Reflection" unfolds like a quiet fable—depicting not only the woman’s introspection but also inviting the viewer into an inner landscape suspended between reality and illusion. In this contemplative gaze, the viewer is not merely looking, butbeing looked at—drawn into a silent dialogue. The work captures the delicate interplay of solitude and intimacy in life—reflecting amid opulence, awakening in stillness.

背景中繁盛向上的花卉,鮮活能量脈動著;
In Please Have a Seat, dreaminess and fantasy intertwine within a richly patterned interior that invites both curiosity and amusement.
The vibrant background of upward-reaching florals pulses with energy, while the deep blue armchair—lush and inviting—anchors the scene in plush comfort. Surrounding it, plump white hens appear unbothered, perched on striped and checkered surfaces that echo the playful, surreal rhythm of the space. At the center of the chair, a single white egg rests with quiet absurdity—a humorous nod to the title, suggesting that someone, perhaps a chicken, has already made themselves quite at home. This small, comedic detail contrasts with the ornamental elegance of the setting, adding levity to an otherwise dreamy and decorative composition. The result is a scene that feels both intimate and theatrical, where humour, reflection, and fantasy coexist in a vivid, patterned harmony.

In the still hush of a deep green room, where silence drapes itself like silk, the crescent moon lingers in the window, a quiet guardian of midnight thoughts. A vase, etched with the language of leaves and old stories, reaches skyward with golden and silver branches, as if listening for something just beyond the air. A letter rests beside a small, amber drink—both unopened, both glowing softly in the moonlight, as though they carry a secret not meant to rush. A blue cat sleeps curled in perfect trust on a striped armchair, still blissfully unaware, sensing no need for haste. In this moment of waiting, time slows to a hush, and the spirit leans gently inward. Perhaps, as the poets of old Persia mused, there is nothing in the world more eloquent than quietness—especially when it holds the shimmer of news not yet read.

This painting whispers the idea that not all wishes need to be written. The delicately suspended tags, each adorned with organic, emblematic forms, resemble unspoken hopes hanging in a forest of memory. Rather than inscribed with words, these wishes take visual shape, gently swaying between the real and the imagined. The birds, like silent witnesses or carriers of longing, seem to honour the quiet power of visual expression—reminding us that some of our deepest desires are best felt, not said.

Against a golden sky that glows like a whispered secret, soft blue birds perch gently on curling branches—each one tied, almost imperceptibly, by a thin red thread. Some tug gently, some seem unaware, and others sit in quiet wonder, unsure who waits at the other end. Inspired by the East Asian legend of the invisible red line that binds destined souls, this work plays with fate and feeling. With a wink of humor and a heart full of yearning, it suggests that love may find us even when we think we’re alone—or already entangled with the wrong string.

它或帶來甘甜,或掀起擾動;
In The Bee and the Bird, the canvas sings softly of companionship, with two gentle blue birds resting among tender branches, their presence radiating ease and quiet affection. Yet into this serene rhythm enters a bee, small but charged with possibility, its arrival carrying the power to shift everything in an instant. It may bring sweetness or disruption, joy or unease—no one can say. Like live itself, the moment hovers between delight and uncertainty.

The painting appears as a tender scene of ease, composure, and gentle stillness, where branches curl gracefully, blossoms open in quiet bloom, and a bird rests in untroubled harmony. Yet within this fragile balance, the smallest presence—a drone, sharp and out of place—fractures the calm, reminding us how delicate peace truly is. What feels eternal and safe can be unsettled in an instant, beauty pierced by intrusion, and serenity made uncertain by the faintest hum of disturbance.

Under the soft gaze of a full moon, two white birds rest on dark branches amid a forest of quiet blue. One holds a red charm, delicate and symbolic, as if offering a silent message of love or remembrance. The other waits, calm and open, in a scene suspended in time. In this stillness, connection speaks without words—tender, timeless, and as certain as the light that touches them both.

A blue cat sits serenely on a rose-colored pedestal, one paw raised like the Maneki-neko—summoning not just fortune, but perhaps a flicker of something more, magic perhaps? Eyes closed in a quiet daydream, it drifts between stillness and becoming. Behind it, floral patterns climb like a waking vision, as if with just a little luck, even wallpaper might bloom into real life. In this gentle world, possibility lingers in every pause.

Three dark birds recline with regal ease beneath a dreamy blue sky, their jeweled eyes and elegant poses hinting at a quiet, decadent gathering. Crowned and adorned, they sit between two ornate vases, their leaves curling like smoke from a celebration just past. Below them, a single fish lies still—its patterned body too perfect, too silent—perhaps the quiet offering, or the unnoticed guest, of this curious party. Wrapped in a vivid pink frame, the scene shimmers with elegance and a whisper of mischief.

安寧的午後,唯有鳥兒先行聽見 —— 某種步伐,正在靠近;
A quiet chair waits in the sun, its purple shadow stretching across a balcony that hums with soft bird songs and the warmth of late afternoon. Small flowerpots gather like old friends, their diverse colours and shapes echoing the familiar charm of a Taiwanese balcony. A drink might soon be poured, a hand might soon rest—and in this calm, even the birds seem to know someone is on their way.
